Hey guys, I just got TPG 120Gb hooked up and I'm just wondering, do I need to run a line filter if there is no phone connected? if so, does it have to be an ADSL2+ one or will an ADSL one do fine? Also, if it is necessary to have even without a phone connected, what does it do? (just for my own curiosity). cheers, Freddy |

if the line is isolated (no other devices), then there is no need for a filter. |

If i'm still using a standard phone (connected to a different port to my ADSL2+ modem) do i still need to use a filter on both (or just the phone)? Also back to the question above, does it need to be a ADSL2+ specific filter or can it be an ADSL1 filter. I'm still using the ADSL1 filter back in the days, but not sure if i'm being hampered performance wise. |

Main goal is if you have a phone in OTHER sockets in the house you will need filter for it. If theres no phone in other parts of the house and you have just a line to your modem I think you dont need a filter for the phone connected to the phone port of the router. If you have ADSL2 it best to have filter for ADSL2 as the ADSL1 filter may not work well with the stronger ADSL2 signals so to speak, but if you having no problems with the orginal filter then it should be ok. |
